Battery Location Guide: AS/NZS 5139 Explained

Where can you install a home solar battery? AS/NZS 5139 isn’t easy to interpret, so we turned one of our internal technical documents into this interactive battery location guide to show how the standard applies in real installs. Tap any marker to see whether a battery can go in that spot: under stairs, near doorways, beside meter boxes, below windows, next to glass sliding doors. We’ve included the clearances, fire-rated barrier (fibro) requirements, and the exact clause it comes from. It’s based on our interpretation of AS/NZS 5139:2019, and comes with justification for that interpretation. We use it to train our installers. It was too handy of a tool to keep for ourselves.
